Choral music, but not quite – pop music, still not quite
I get chills when I hear human voices blend together beautifully. I get even deeper chills when I hear the voices harmonize in one of my own pieces. I want to convey feelings and tell stories with my melodies.
During the last decade my compositions have been performed by Grex Musicus, Philomela, Ylioppilaskunnan laulajat, Rajaton and Tapiolan kuoro among others – and of course, for over twelve years also by Viisi, my own vocal group.
It’s been a long-standing dream of mine to have a concert where I have the chance to compile my personal favorites and the pieces most loved by the audience. I’ve also always had an especially rewarding time working with these three groups I’ve invited along to perform. For this concert I also composed a couple of new stories to which I commissioned the texts from my favorite lyricist and author, Inka Nousiainen.
